NAMPT
The rate-limiting enzyme of the salvage pathway.
Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase converts Nam to NMN. NAMPT expression declines with age and inflammation, making it the bottleneck in cellular NAD+ regeneration. Also secreted as eNAMPT — an adipokine that circulates systemically.
